Hominy Friends Meeting CookbookHominy Friends Meeting is proud to offer a cookbook filled with favorite recipes from the congregation and many other local community members. Most of these recipes have been handed down from generation to generation.

The cookbook features a section devoted to Traditional Indian Foods, such as Osage fry bread, meat pies, meat gravy, dried corn, * wild onions with eggs, grape dumplings and many more delicious entrees! Other sections of the cookbook include Main Dishes, Vegetables & Salads, Breads & Cakes, Pies & Other Desserts, Cookies, and a Miscellaneous section.

This cookbook contains over 350 recipes, information on the history of Hominy Friends Meeting, Osage language, Osage feasts, and a Household Hints section with many useful tips.

The price of the cookbook is $15.00 and an additional $3.00 for shipping and handling (up to 5 copies). The proceeds benefit Hominy Friends Meeting.

* Wild Onions are a Native American tradition. Ann Sleeper preparing the Wild Onion Dinner They are among the first edible greens to appear in spring. For Osage people, spring begins the new year. Therefore a dinner featuring the tender delicacy of wild onions is essentially a New Year's celebration. The Hominy Friends Meeting holds an annual Wild Onion Benefit Dinner.
